Spotify unveiled AI to clone podcasters' voices and translate them into other languages
Spotify
The Spotify service has unveiled an artificial intelligence-based feature that allows podcasts to be translated into other languages while retaining the host's voice.
Here's What We Know
According to the company, the feature is based on OpenAI voice generation technology, which was previously announced for the ChatGPT app. It allows for the creation of "realistic synthetic voices" based on just a few seconds of speech, the startup said in a release.
Spotify says the feature will help make listening to podcasts more authentic and natural by preserving the distinctive speech patterns of podcasters.
For the first Spanish, French and German translations, Spotify has collaborated with authors including Dax Shepard, Lex Fridman, Monica Padman, Steven Bartlett and Bill Simmons. The re-dubbed episodes will be available to free and paid users soon.
