Bing Image Creator users have generated an image of the 9/11 terrorist attack, with Mickey Mouse and Sponge Bob piloting the plane

Users bypassed protections in Bing's AI image generator and created pictures of cartoon characters attacking the Twin Towers in New York. Microsoft has tried to block such requests, but seems to have been unsuccessful.

Here's What We Know

Some users used Bing with the DALL-E 3 model to generate pictures of SpongeBob, Kirby, Mickey Mouse and other characters attacking the Twin Towers.

Microsoft said it is working to improve its filtering system to prevent malicious content from being created. However, simply replacing words in a query can still bypass the blocking and generate an image of the towers.

Experts note that moderation systems in AI generators are flawed. Attackers are actively exploiting this vulnerability to create and distribute malicious content.

Companies still have a lot of work to do to establish effective image filtering, experts said.
