UK regulators have launched an investigation into Snap over potential privacy threats related to the My AI chatbot. The reason was concerns about the security of teenagers' data.
Here's What We Know
The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) fears that the My AI chatbot could pose a threat to Snapchat users aged between 13 and 17.
According to Commissioner John Edwards, preliminary findings have shown that Snap failed to properly assess the risks before launching My AI.
The findings of the investigation are still preliminary. Snapchat will be able to address the violations before a final judgement is issued. Otherwise, the company may have to suspend the chatbot for UK users.
Snapchat said it is studying the ICO's preliminary ruling. The company intends to work with the regulator to address the risks.
