Microsoft is considering giving Windows 10 users an AI-based generative personal assistant called Copilot.

Here's What We Know

According to Windows Central's sources, Copilot for Windows 10 will work through the same plugins as in Windows 11. Thus, the experience of using the assistant will not depend on the OS version.

This will greatly expand Copilot's audience, as Windows 10 is still active on about 1 billion devices. In comparison, Windows 11 is installed on 400 million active PCs.

According to sources, this increased availability of Copilot will encourage developers to create plug-ins for the assistant, which will be available on 1.4 billion Windows devices.

Microsoft is also reportedly revising its strategy to quickly transition users to Windows 11. Microsoft plans to add some exclusive features of the new OS to Windows 10.

Windows 10 support will expire in October 2025. However, the company is discussing a possible extension of this deadline, claims Windows Central.
