US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping plan to agree on a ban on the use of artificial intelligence technology in autonomous weapons.
Here's What We Know
The potential dangers of artificial intelligence will be one of the main topics of their meeting on the sidelines of the summit in San Francisco on 15 November. The US and Chinese leaders are expected to agree on the unacceptability of AI technology in autonomous weapons such as drones and nuclear weapons.
Both countries are concerned about the uncontrolled use of AI that could ignite conflicts. The ban initiative was previously backed by 36 nations. They will meet next year to discuss new rules in this area.
In October, the US administration introduced approval requirements for advanced AI products. They must be certified for use in the production of weapons of mass destruction.
