OpenAI is planning to get additional funding from Microsoft and other partners to develop human-level artificial intelligence (AGI). This was announced by the head of the startup Sam Altman.
Here's What We Know
According to him, the co-operation with Microsoft is going well. He hopes to eventually attract much more funds from the tech giant and other investors, which is necessary due to the enormous costs of creating complex AI models.
Earlier this year, Microsoft invested $10bn in OpenAI, which raised the startup's valuation to $29bn. Altman expressed hope that the tech giant will continue to invest in the startup's development. According to him, the company's revenue has been growing at a good pace this year.
However, for now, OpenAI remains unprofitable due to the enormous costs of training AI models. A partnership with Microsoft will allow the companies to capitalise on each other's success in this area, Altman believes.
