Bloomberg: OpenAI plans to raise new funding at $100bn valuation

OpenAI, the creator of chatbot ChatGPT, is in talks for a new round of funding. According to Bloomberg, the startup expects a valuation of at least $100bn.
Here's What We Know
The terms, valuation and timing of the funding round have not yet been determined and are subject to change. OpenAI is also discussing a chip manufacturing joint venture with G42.
It is not yet clear whether the chip venture and broader funding are linked. There have been earlier reports of a possible $8-10bn investment by G42 in OpenAI.

OpenAI plans to complete a separate tender offer led by Thrive Capital in early 2024. This will allow employees to sell shares in the company at a valuation of $86bn.
In January 2023, Microsoft pledged to invest more than $10bn in OpenAI. After the launch of ChatGPT, the startup became a leader in generative AI.
