The GPT Store, where users can sell and share customised AI agents based on OpenAI language models, will officially open next week.
Here's What We Know
GPT Builders users have started receiving emails from OpenAI with details about the upcoming launch. In them, the company asks to double-check that GPT Builders are consistent with the brand guidelines and reminds them to make their GPTs public.
OpenAI first announced its intention to set up shop with custom AI agents at its November developer conference. They can only be created by ChatGPT Plus subscribers and corporate users.
Using the GPTs builder, GPTs can be used to develop personalised versions of ChatGPT-style chatbots, from interpreting Generation Z memes to guiding them through the negotiation process. Currently, GPTs created by OpenAI can be found under the Explore tab if you have a subscription.
The GPT Store, in turn, will give users the ability to share and monetise their GPTs. However, OpenAI has not yet provided information on how to reward the creators of custom chatbots.
The company had originally planned to open the shop in November, but the launch had to be delayed. OpenAI has had a very busy month with the confusion surrounding the firing and return of CEO Sam Altman.
