'I just hate these f**kers': GTA 5 actor criticised creators of chatbot with his voice
Rockstar Games
Ned Luke, who voices GTA 5 protagonist Michael De Santa, has sharply criticised WAME for creating a chat bot using his voice without permission. After the actor's intervention the bot was removed.
Here's What We Know
"This is fu**ing bullshit WAME. Absolutely nothing cool about ripping people off with some lame computer estimation of my voice. Don’t waste your time on this garbage", Luke stated.
The actor tagged Rockstar Games and the SAG-AFTRA union in his tweet. He added that he is not worried about the prospect of being replaced by technology.
"I just hate these fu**ers, and am pissed as fu** that our shitty union is so damn weak that this will soon be an issue on legit work", the actor added.
Luke was probably referring to the deal that SAG-AFTRA and Replica Studios recently struck. It allows the AI company to use synthetic voice actors to dub video games.
In a response statement, WAME expressed "deep understanding and concern" and promised to protect the rights of voice actors.
"This incident has highlighted the intricate interplay between the advancement of AI technology and the ethical and legal realms", the company said in a statement.
