The European Commission is analysing US corporation Microsoft's agreement to collaborate with French startup Mistral AI to develop generative artificial intelligence technologies.

Here's What We Know

According to the EC press office, the partnership is being reviewed as part of a larger review of the fast-growing market for generative AI technologies for competition risks.

Microsoft previously announced a €15m investment in Mistral AI, founded less than a year ago. Experts believe that the agreement will allow the US corporation to reduce its dependence on supplies of generative AI products from the startup OpenAI, the creator of chatbot ChatGPT.

Earlier, the European Commission began examining the partnership between Microsoft and OpenAI worth billions of dollars, which could lead to an official antitrust investigation.
