NVIDIA unveils GR00T AI platform for humanoid robots
NVIDIA
NVIDIA has announced the launch of GR00T, a new artificial intelligence platform focused on software development for humanoid robots.
Here's What We Know
According to NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, creating basic AI models for humanoids is one of the most exciting challenges in the field. GR00T is designed to be a universal platform for training such robots.
"We are at an inflection point in history, with human-centric robots like Digit poised to change labor forever. Modern AI will accelerate development", said Agility Robotics co-founder Jonathan Hurst, who is involved in the project.
To work with GR00T, NVIDIA also unveiled a new Jetson Thor computer with an 800 teraflops GPU for processing generative AI models.
In addition to GR00T, at the GTC conference NVIDIA announced Isaac Manipulator software for robotic arms and Isaac Perceptor software for 3D vision autonomous mobile robots.
Competition between humanoid robots and mobile manipulators is expected to unfold in the coming years, and NVIDIA is looking to carve out a niche for itself in this fast-growing segment.
