Western Digital has unveiled the new SanDisk Professional PRO-G40 SSD drive. It is available in two variants, and deliveries will start in a few weeks.

Here's What We Know

The SanDisk Professional PRO-G40 is a 1TB or 2TB premium SSD. It has dual-mode compatibility support for USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) and Thunderbolt 3 (40Gbps). When using the Thunderbolt 3 interface, it achieves read and write speeds of 2,700 MB/s and 1,900 MB/s, respectively.

The new product is aimed at business customers and content creators. The SanDisk Professional PRO-G40 delivers high speed and reliability for real-time 4K UHD and 8K UHD video editing, and is ideal for AR/VR rendering and large data transfers. The SanDisk Professional PRO-G40's enclosure has received IP68 water and dust protection. In addition, the drive can withstand a drop from up to 3 meters.

Price & When We Can Expect It

Western Digital's press release states that the novelty is already available and costs from $380. On the official site the information is different. So, the cost of the SanDisk Professional PRO-G40 for 1 TB is $300, and the 2 TB variant is priced at $450. In addition, it is indicated that the SSD-drive will be available in 3-4 weeks.
