Sharp followed HTC's lead and also announced a new VR headset at CES 2023. But in this case we are talking about a prototype, while the new Vive XR Elite will appear in February at a price of $1099.

Here's What We Know

The Japanese company's headset is equipped with a display with a total resolution of 4K (2K for each eye). The image refresh rate is 120 Hz. One of the advantages of the device is its low weight. The display weighs only 175 g.

A polymer lens is provided for fast focusing, which is installed in the RGB camera made by Sharp. The Japanese manufacturer notes that the viewing angle is maintained when the focus point is moved. This should reduce the risk of dizziness in the user.

The headset is equipped with more than just a color camera. It includes a pair of black and white cameras. They are designed to track hand movements. More information about Sharp's novelty is not available yet.

Note that the new Vive XR Elite also has the option of tracking hand movements through built-in cameras. Moreover, the HP headset has received four cameras. At the same time, the Taiwanese company will also sell controllers.
