DJI Inspire 3, the world's first 8K UHD quadcopter for $16,500
DJI has announced the world's first drone equipped with a full-frame 8K camera. The model is called DJI Inspire 3 and is aimed at professional filmmakers.
Here's What We Know
The DJI Inspire 3 gets the Zenmuse X9-8K camera with support for a wide colour range, dual ISO, 360-degree panoramic shooting, and video recording in CinemaDNG and Apple ProRes RAW formats. The latter two modes have a maximum resolution of 8K UHD and frame rates of 25 FPS and 75 FPS respectively.
The Zenmuse X9-8K camera supports a variety of DL proprietary lenses with f/2.8 aperture. The equivalent focal lengths are 18mm, 24mm, 35mm and 50mm. In addition, DJI Inspire 3 can shoot video in 4K UHD with frame rates up to 120 FPS.
The quadcopter also has an FPV camera. It is built on the basis of optics with a 161-degree angle of capture and an optical sensor format 1/1.8". Images from the FPV camera can be transmitted to the RC Plus controller with a latency of up to 90ms.
The quadcopter supports the DJI O3 Pro control and data transfer system. The technology allows for video streaming up to 15.2 km with one controller and up to 12.5 km with two controllers.
The DJI Inspire 3 weighs 4kg and can reach speeds of up to 94km/h. The maximum operating altitude is 3.8 km, but you can install special propellers that will allow the drone to go up to 7 km. The novelty is equipped with two batteries and can operate without recharging for 28 minutes.
Price & When We Can Expect It
The manufacturer's recommended price for the DJI Inspire 3 was $16,500 in the US and €15,000 in Europe. To activate CinemaDNG and Apple ProRes RAW support, you need to pay almost $1,000 extra. Sales of the drone will begin in the summer of 2023.
