MediaTek unveils Dimensity Auto: Processor for cars with 5G, Wi-Fi 7, 120Hz screens and global navigation satellite systems
MediaTek has announced its first process for smart cars.
Here's What We Know
The chipset has been named Dimensity Auto. It is built on a 3nm process. The SoC is a modular platform that can be responsible for the car's multimedia system as well as the driver assistance system. The chipset has support for fifth-generation (5G) networks. In addition, it is equipped with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth.
The MediaTek Dimensity Auto supports up to 8 screens in the cabin with up to 8K resolution and refresh rates of up to 120Hz. The novelty also boasts of having Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). The chip is also equipped with an APU. It will be responsible for driver assistance functions. For instance, while driving and parking the vehicle.
When We Can Expect It
It is not yet known when the cars with MediaTek Dimensity Auto processor will be available on the market.
