Unitree has unveiled a robotic dog with LiDAR priced from $1600 that can dance and do somersaults
A few years ago, Boston Dynamics introduced Spot, a robotic dog that cost nearly $75,000. Since then, several companies have developed similar robots. One of them is Unitree. It recently announced a device called Go 2, which in standard modification costs almost 50 times cheaper than Spot.
Here's What We Know
Unitree Go 2 is 16" high, 27" long and weighs approximately 15kg. The robotic dog is equipped with a camera, torch and LiDAR. The robot has got 12 motors, i.e. three for each leg and can reach a speed of 2.5 metres per second.
The company claims that Unitree Go 2 is capable of running for 1-2 hours. For this purpose, the dog has received a rechargeable battery with a capacity of 8000 mA*h. It also has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless adapters in its arsenal.
Unitree Go 2 is able to navigate difficult terrain, rocks and climb stairs. The company has also taught the robot to do somersaults and dance by standing on two legs.
The Unitree Go 2 is priced at $1600. The company also offers a more expensive version with artificial intelligence-based chatbot support, speakers, microphone and 4G modem. The speed has been increased to 3.5 metres per second. It is priced at $2800.
Unitree will also offer an EDU version. This version of the robotic dog can move at a speed of 5 m/s, perform additional tricks and is equipped with a 15,000 mA*h battery. The price is not specified.
