Samsung will release a 4TB PCIe 4.0-capable 990 SSD PRO NVMe drive next month with prices starting at $345

South Korean company Samsung has recently added a 4TB NVMe drive to its range. The Samsung 990 PRO will be available on the market in a few weeks.

Here's What We Know

Samsung will sell the new drive as an SSD with no cooling system or with an aluminium heatsink. The devices have model numbers MZ-V9P4T0BW and MZ-V9P4T0CW respectively. Regardless of the version, the 990 SSD PRO has a Pascal memory controller manufactured using 8nm technology. The flash memory is TLC 3D NAND.

According to the manufacturer, read and write speeds will not differ from the 2TB version, i.e. 7540MB/s and 6900MB/s respectively. The company also notes that the NAND chips are located on one side to get rid of compatibility issues when installed in laptops.

Price & When We Can Expect It

The official price of the Samsung 990 SSD PRO 4TB has been set at $345. The version with a cooling radiator will sell for $355. The new drive will hit the market in October 2023.
