Not for everyone: Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy S23 Tactical Edition and Galaxy XCover6 Pro Tactical Edition rugged smartphones
Samsung has added two new models to its line of Tactical Edition rugged devices - Galaxy S23 Tactical Edition and Galaxy XCover6 Pro Tactical Edition.
Here's What We Know
These are special versions of smartphones designed for military, special services and similar professions. Both smartphones have the same specifications as the standard versions, but differ in additional features. Thus, Galaxy XCover 6 Pro Tactical Edition is MIL-STD-810H certified, so it is not afraid of submersion under water and can withstand extreme weather conditions. The Galaxy S23 Tactical Edition has only IP68 waterproofing and a rugged case that can be attached to the chest or worn on the forearm.
The smartphones have a night vision mode for use with night vision optics, respond to finger touches while wearing gloves, support external GPS and can connect to drones and laser rangefinders.
Stealth mode disables LTE, broadcasting, emergency calls and GPS and provides fully autonomous secure connectivity. Cybersecurity is provided by Samsung Knox with hardware-level encryption.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Tactical Edition has 8GB RAM and 256GB inbuilt storage, while the Samsung Galaxy XCover6 Pro Tactical Edition has 6GB RAM and 128GB ROM.
Their price is unknown as they won't be on free sale and are not available for regular buyers.
