Unveiled Rabbit R1 - a $199 anti-smartphone with AI that will replace the classic mobile phone and dozens of applications

At CES 2024, an interesting gadget called Rabbit R1 debuted, which can be called a kind of anti-smartphone.

Details

The device has a compact body with a colourful design developed in collaboration with design firm Teenage Engineering. It features a small 2.88-inch touchscreen, a rotating camera, a 2.3GHz MediaTek processor, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory, and a battery that provides a full day of battery life.

What is the purpose of the Rabbit R1? It's a handy assistant that can replace a smartphone. It can make calls (there is a SIM card slot), display incoming notifications and send messages, but its main task is to perform various tasks with the help of artificial intelligence. This can be calling a taxi, booking a table in a restaurant, ordering a book, etc. The gadget runs on the Rabbit OS operating system and does not require the installation of dozens of usual applications - Rabbit OS is one big super-application through which you can control the rest of the programmes.

In addition to this, the Rabbit R1 can control your music, recognise products and merchandise through the camera. There's an analogue wheel for control, but it's much more convenient to address the AI with your voice.

The Rabbit R1 is already available for pre-order for $199, but official sales will start in March.
