Apple AirPods get new features: Adaptive Noise Cancellation, Auto Volume Control and Conversation Recognition
Apple announced at the opening of WWDC 2023 not only iOS 17, iPadOS 17, macOS 14 Sonoma and watchOS 10 operating systems, but also an update for Apple's AirPods.
Here's What We Know
The AirPods Pro 2 earbuds will get the most innovation, with Adaptive Audio, Personalized Volume and Conversation Awareness announced.
Adaptive Audio means adaptive adjustment of noise cancellation mode and transparency. For example, the headphones will be able to turn down the volume of construction equipment in the street, but leave transparency mode on so that you can hear other ambient sounds.
The Personalized Volume function has a similar principle: it uses machine learning to fine-tune music listening based on environmental conditions and listener preferences.
Conversation Awareness kicks in when you start talking or answer a phone call. In this case, the system lowers the volume of the music and focuses on the voices around you or reduces the volume of ambient noise if you are on the phone.
In addition, Apple will improve automatic device switching in the ecosystem for all AirPods and add convenient sound adjustments to AirPods Pro (1st and 2nd generations), AirPods (3rd generation) and AirPods Max. You'll be able to mute or unmute the sound by pressing the feet or the Digital Crown wheel on the AirPods Max.
An update for the earbuds will be released in the autumn.
