Assassin's Creed Shadows won't bore gamers with its size: the scale of feudal Japan is comparable to the vastness of ancient Egypt from AC Origins

Finally, Ubisoft has broken the silence about the new part of Assassin's Creed in the setting of feudal Japan, which fans of the series have been waiting for so long.

It's happening! Ubisoft has unveiled a spectacular premiere trailer of Assassin's Creed Shadows, the long-awaited game set in feudal Japan, the developers started to gradually reveal the details of the game.

We've already reported about the luxurious collector's edition and about the Assassin's Creed Shadows will require a constant Internet connection during the game: all through Assassin's Creed Infinity - a hub where players will launch the series' games while playing Assassin's Creed Shadows.

Now let's pay attention to one of the most important aspects of Ubisoft games - the scale of the open world.

Here's What We Know

In an interview with IGN , Ubisoft Quebec creative director Jonathan Dumont said that the scale of the game version of feudal Japan of the XVI century in Assassin's Creed Shadows is comparable to the size of Ancient Egypt from Assassin's Creed Origins.

The developers wanted to realise the scale of the game as authentic as possible and, most importantly, to competently convey the height of the mountains, for this they had to make the map wider.

This is in line with what we did in the last release of Assassinʼs Creed. When it comes to scale, the size of Assassinʼs Creed Origins is probably more appropriate for comparison. We wanted to get as close to the actual scale as possible. Because castles took up a lot of space, and we really wanted the mountains to look like mountains, we made the environments in the game wider. But I would say about the same size as Origins.

Thus, we can conclude that the open world in Assassinʼs Creed Shadows will be smaller than in Odyssey and Valhalla, which is a plus rather than a minus, as those games bored even the most dedicated players with huge expanses.

When We Can Expect It

Assassin's Creed Shadows will release on 15 November 2024 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.

Pre-order is already open.
