Denmark has officially confirmed the delivery of 19 F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters to Ukraine - deliveries will begin in 2023

Denmark has announced that it will transfer fourth-generation US fighter jets to Ukraine. This was announced by the Ministry of Defence of the Scandinavian country.

Here's What We Know

The air force of Ukraine will receive 19 aircraft. This was first announced by Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, after which her words were confirmed by the Ministry of Defence. The deliveries will start in 2023.

The first F-16s will arrive in Ukraine by the New Year. During 2024 Denmark will send five more fighters of the fourth generation. The remaining aircraft will be delivered in 2025. This is necessary for a smooth transition of the Scandinavian country to the fifth-generation F-35 Lightning II fighters. More than 70 Ukrainian military personnel have arrived in Denmark for training on F-16s.

The Royal Danish Air Force has 30 Fighting Falcon aircraft in service. Another 15 fighters are in storage. Like the Netherlands, Denmark uses F-16AM/BMs of Block 20 MLU level, whose capabilities are comparable to Block 50/52.

Earlier, the Netherlands announced the delivery of 42 F-16 fighters to Ukraine after pilot training. Whether this number includes Danish aircraft, it is not specified at the moment.
