The Pentagon has officially confirmed that Ukrainian pilots will be trained on F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters in the USA
The United States is officially joining the programme for training pilots of the Ukrainian Air Force on F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jets. This was announced by Pentagon spokesman Brigadier General Pat Ryder.
Here's What We Know
Earlier the New York Times wrote that the training will begin in September. As it became known, the Ukrainian pilots next month will take a course in English. Training will begin in October and will be held at the base Morris, Arizona.
The number of pilots has not yet been specified. However, Pat Ryder said that we are talking about a few pilots and dozens of specialists from the maintenance staff.
Last week, the US approved the delivery of fourth-generation F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. Officially, the modification is not specified, but apparently it is Block 20 MLU. At least three countries will become donors of the aircraft: Denmark, Norway and the Netherlands.
