The upgraded F-15EX Eagle II fighter jet was able to launch three AGM-158 JASSM missiles with a range of 370 kilometres in a single sortie

The F-15EX Eagle II has completed test launches of the AGM-158 Joint Off-Fire-Surface Standoff (JASSM). This is reported by the 53rd Wing of the US Air Force.

The upgraded Generation 4.5+ fighter has completed the first phase of its hybrid development/initial operational test and evaluation programme. The aircraft managed to launch three AGM-158 JASSM air-to-ground missiles during a single sortie.

The tests took place during the Cambat Hammer exercise at U.S. Air Force Base Hill, Utah. The event began on 14 August and lasted until 25 August. Details of the test launches are classified for now. It is known that the maximum range of the JASSM is 370 kilometres.

A spokesman for the 53rd Air Wing noted that everything went perfectly. The tests confirmed the ability of the upgraded F-15EX Eagle II fighter to use three precision cruise missiles in combat.

The US Air Force has two F-15EX test aircraft so far, but plans to increase the fleet to a total of 104-112 units. The fighters have already confirmed they can carry 12 AIM-120 AMRAAM air-to-air missiles, rather than eight like the conventional F-15 Eagle. The service also plans to make the Eagle IIs hypersonic weapons carriers.
