The Russians lied about the first ever launch of the Kh-47M2 pseudo-hypersonic missile from a Su-34 fighter jet - now propaganda is talking about the use of a 1.5-tonne FAB-1500 M54 bomb
It didn't take long for the music to play. Russian propagandists refute yesterday's claim that a Su-34 fighter jet has launched a pseudo-hypersonic Kh-47M2 missile for the first time in history.
Here's What We Know
On the eve there was information from an anonymous source from the Russian Ministry of Defence about the first launch of the Kh-47M2 missile from the Su-34 aircraft at a target on the territory of Ukraine. Propagandists refute this and claim that the fighter actually used a smart bomb FAB-1500 M54. This is also the first time this has happened.
Whether this is true is hard to say at this point. As with the Kh-47M2 claim, there are no photos or videos to confirm the launch of a FAB-1500 M54 from a Su-34 frontline fighter-bomber. But in theory the aircraft is capable of lifting such a munition.
The FAB-1500 M54 is a Soviet-made high-explosive bomb equipped with a 675kg warhead. To turn it into a smart munition, it uses a unified planning and correction module, which is, in fact, an analogue of the American JDAM equipment kit. To be more precise, in our case we are talking about the JDAM-ER, since the FAB-1500 has a launch range of approximately 70-80 kilometres.
