The US State Department has approved the sale of support equipment for fourth-generation F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters to Poland

The US State Department has approved the potential sale of a support system for the fourth-generation F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jets to Poland.

Here's What We Know

The Defence Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has provided the necessary certification and notified the US Congress of the potential sale. The potential deal will now be reviewed by US congressmen within 30 days.

Poland had previously requested $82 million worth of support systems for F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jets. On 13 September 2023, the US State Department approved a potential sale of $389 million worth of facilities and related equipment.

If approved by the US Congress, the deal would support America's foreign policy and national security objectives. The sale will strengthen the NATO ally in Europe, will not change the balance of power in the region and will not reduce US defence capabilities.

We would like to add that the previous day the US approved the sale of 25 F-35A Lightning II fighter jets, 26 Pratt & Whitney F135 engines and related equipment to the Republic of Korea. The amount of the potential deal is estimated at $5.06bn.
