Here's What We Know
The upgraded attack helicopter took to the skies for the first time at the US company's Arizona plant. The manufacturer is confident that the AH-64E Apache V6.5 will be able to dominate future battlefields.
The US Department of Defence approved the V6.5 standard several years ago. It includes software updates to enhance and improve the interface. The list of innovations includes enhanced Link 16 communication system features, improved interoperability to integrate new systems, and optimised route planning and attack systems.
The AH-64E Apache V6.5 uses new Aerospace T901 engines from General Electric. They have more power, are able to increase range and improve manoeuvrability.
