Here's What We Know

The U.S. Air Force recently retired the KC-10 Extender aircraft, which had been in service for more than 30 years. The military service has since dispatched KC-135 aerial refuelling tankers to Saudi Arabia from Fairchild Base, Washington.

The aircraft arrived at the Prince Sultan base. The number is not specified for security reasons. The 384th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron will now support combat operations throughout the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.

The KC-135 Stratotanker's tanks hold more than 90,000 tonnes of fuel. The aircraft can also carry more than 37,000 tonnes of cargo and perform medical evacuation missions.
