US officially confirms strike by two F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jets on Iranian arms depot in eastern Syria
Two F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jets struck an Iranian arms depot located in eastern Syria. This was officially confirmed by the United States.
Here's What We Know
US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin said the military facility was used by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. He said the precision strike on the depot was in response to a series of attacks on US personnel in Iraq and Syria.
Lloyd Austin said that the US would respond to such situations and carry out defensive strikes. He also emphasised that the actions of the US military had nothing to do with the situation in Israel. At the same time, he believes that the U.S. manages to prevent the conflict in the Gaza Strip from turning into a regional war in the Middle East.
The head of the Pentagon promises to take additional measures if attacks on U.S. troops do not decrease or do not stop. In addition, the US Central Command is investigating the incident with the shooting down of the US MQ-9 Reaper drone over the Red Sea. But the F-15E Strike Eagle strikes have nothing to do with this event.
