The Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive Mi-17 helicopters from Ecuador.
Here's What We Know
The information was shared by the publication Defence Express. This transfer will be realised within the framework of the agreement between the USA and Ecuador, which was concluded in January 2024. The agreement provides for the transfer of Soviet weapons from the stocks of the Ecuadorian army to Ukraine. In return, Ecuador will receive US-made equipment - UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters.
Unfortunately, it is not known how many Mi-17 helicopters will be transferred to the Ukrainian army. By the way, according to Infodefensa, most of the Ecuadorian Mi-17 helicopters are in an unusable condition. Perhaps Ukraine wants to use them as donors.
Flashback
The Mi-17 is a Soviet-made multi-purpose military transport helicopter. It is designed for landing, combat and special missions. It can also be used for destroying lightly armoured vehicles, engaging targets and enemy manpower (using rocket and small arms).
