Baldur's Gate developers aren't sitting idle, with Larian Studios admitting that they're already working on two games on their own IPs
It is already known that Larian Studios, despite the huge success of Baldur's Gate 3, is not going to return to this franchise. However, as well as to any other project in the Dungeons & Dragons universe. As the head of Larian Swen Vincke stated: "For us, this is a past stage".
It seems that Belgian developers don't waste their time and are already engaged in new projects.
Here's What We Know
In a message to players about plans for further support for Baldur's Gate 3, the developers said that in addition to updates for the ultra-popular RPG, they are working on two games on their own IP:
As an independent studio since 1996, we value creative freedom wherever it leads. After six years at Forgotten Realms and much discussion and deliberation, we decided to take the opportunity to develop our own IPs. We are currently working on two new projects and are excited about what the future holds.
It is likely that Larian Studios will return to another of their popular series, Divinity: Original Sin, but it is unlikely that both games will be from the same universe, hence gamers are in for something completely new.
