Russian Samsung plant bypasses sanctions with the help of "parallel import" from the EAEU countries - the media

Russian media, citing sources close to the government, report that foreign companies that continue to produce equipment at Russian factories have found a way around sanctions.

How does this work?

An example is the plant of the South Korean giant Samsung in the Kaluga region. Here they produce goods that are exported to the EAEU countries (Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan), and then through "parallel imports" they import and sell them in Russia. As a result, manufacturers can continue to operate, but declare their refusal to supply the Russian market.

Gleb Mishin, the head of the Russian representative office of Candy-Hoover Group, has confirmed that Samsung's Russian plant is working, but "it is not known on what components, officially now the South Korean company does not deliver spare parts". He confirmed that Samsung sells TV sets in Russia to the CIS countries, but he assures that he does not know whether the equipment is returned by the "parallel import" back.

However, it is worth realizing that this will not solve the problem completely, as the import of components to Russia is still blocked. Therefore, most companies decided not to try to find ways to circumvent the sanctions, but simply close plants in Russia.
