iPhone 13 became the most popular smartphone of 2022 in China - the model sold better than the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max together

The iPhone 13 is the best-selling smartphone of 2022 in China. This is reported by analytics company Counterpoint Research.

Here's What We Know

There are three Apple models in the top 10 most popular smartphones. In doing so, all ended up in the top 3. The iPhone 13 had a 6.6% share in 2022, tripling in a year. It sold three times as well as the Pro Max version. Rounding out the top three was the iPhone 13 Pro with a share of 1.9%.

Notably, four smartphones from Honor, which gained a second life after separating from Huawei, made it into the top 10. The Honor X30, Honor Play 30 Plus, Honor 60 and Honor Play 20 had a share of 1.8%, 1.6%, 1.5% and 1.4% respectively. And that's the best result in the brand's history.

In 5th place we see the OPPO A56 5G. It controlled 1.7% of the market at the end of the year. The vivo Y33s 5G accounted for 1.6% and the vivo Y76s accounted for 1.4%.

When it comes to company performance rather than individual models, Apple leads the way too (13%). The trio of iPhone 13, 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max generated 60% of Apple's sales in China. The top ten best-selling smartphones generated 22% of all sales.

It's also worth noting that apart from the iPhone, all other models cost less than $500. The Honor X30 and Honor X60 are the only smartphones in top 10 with Qualcomm chips. A total of 980 phone models were sold in China in 2022, 120 units less than in 2021.
