A 1976 Apple cheque signed by Jobs and Wozniak sold at auction for $135,000
Yesterday we wrote about the auction of a Apple-1 computer advert written by Steve Jobs sold at auction for $175,000 written by Apple co-founder Steve Jobs. And now the auction house RR Auction reports the sale of a cheque signed by Jobs and Steve Wozniak.
Here's What We Know
This is the second Apple cheque ever issued and has survived since 1976. It is a temporary cheque issued when Apple's first bank account was opened. Incidentally, it was written on 19 March, which is even before Apple Computer, Inc. was officially founded on 1 April 1976.
Back then, it was required that any expenditure exceeding $100 had to be approved by the two partners. That's apparently why the cheque bears the signatures of both Jobs and Wozniak.
The cheque for $116.97 is made out to Ramlor, Inc. - a Palo Alto-based circuit board manufacturer. It is likely a payment for circuit boards associated with the first Apple-1 computers.
The cheque was originally valued at $50,000, but it sold for $135,261 at auction.
