Specifications of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip appeared: 4-nanometer processor, more power and a new layout of cores
We have already written more than once that Qualcomm is working on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. Now new details about the SoC have appeared.
What we know
According to WFCCtech portal, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is unlikely to be built using 3-nanometer processor TSMC. This is due to the fact that Apple is the main customer of TSMC and the company has already reserved capacity for M2 Pro and M2 Max chips. Therefore, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, will likely be built on a 4-nanometer process.
The new chip is also attributed an updated layout of cores. Instead of 1 + 3 + 4 it will get a cluster of 1 + 2 + 2 + 3. Rumor has it that these will be Cortex-X3, Cortex-A715 and Cortex-A510Z cores. Due to the new cluster the performance and energy efficiency of the chip will increase.
When to expect
Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will be released at Snapdragon Summit event. It will be held on November 15-17.
