Redmi K70 smartphones get top-of-the-range Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor
Qualcomm is expected to unveil its new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor at the Snapdragon Tech Summit 2023 in October this year. Although the unveiling is still a long way off, insiders continue to reveal information about the smartphones that will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
Here's What We Know
The first Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered smartphones are rumoured to debut in November, with the Xiaomi 14 flagships among the first. Chinese informant Digital Chat Station writes that the Xiaomi Redmi sub-brand is also in the works.
According to him, the Redmi K70 smartphones will also get Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. But which models exactly - he did not specify. The Redmi K60 range consists of three models with three different chips: Redmi K60e with Dimensity 8200, Redmi K60 with Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 and Redmi K60 Pro (pictured) with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. So it's likely that only the Redmi K70 Pro will have the top-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 this year.
Reports have revealed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will include 1 Cortex X4 core clocked at 3.75GHz, 5 Cortex-A720 cores clocked at 3.0GHz and 2 Cortex-A520 cores clocked at 2.0GHz. The unannounced processor has already been tested on the Geekbench and AnTuTu platforms with impressive results: it scored 2563 and 7256 in the single-core and multi-core Geekbench tests respectively, and 1,771,106 in AnTuTu.
