Leaked: Google's Pixel Watch 2 smartwatch will get a new processor and improved battery life

Last October, Google unveiled its first smartwatch, the Pixel Watch. Now it's time for the successor to be released. Despite the fact that the official presentation of the Google Pixel Watch 2 is expected only in a few months, the Android Authority publication has already received some details about the novelty from sources at Google.

Here's What We Know

Most importantly, the Pixel Watch 2 will get a newer and more efficient processor. In the first model, it was an Exynos 9110 with two Arm Cortex-A53 cores running at 1.15 GHz. The Exynos 9100 itself was announced in 2018 and is built on a 10nm process. Instead, the second generation will get the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chip, which is built on the same 4nm Samsung process as most of the chips for the 2021 and 2022 smartphones.

Combined with a slightly larger battery (306 mAh vs 294 mAh), the Pixel Watch 2 should have better battery life than the first-generation Pixel Watch.

The watch will also get solid black bezels like its predecessor and a 1.2-inch round OLED display with a resolution of 384×384 pixels manufactured by Samsung Display instead of BOE.

In addition, the source cites ultra-wideband (UWB) support, which will allow the Pixel Watch 2 to be used for accurate device search, unlocking a car with a digital car key and smooth media playback, and Wear OS 4 based on Android 13.
