Apple is finally preparing the new iPhone SE: suppliers have already started fighting to supply OLED displays
The 3rd generation iPhone SE was introduced in 2022, but 2023 never got a new model of this smartphone. However, Apple is still preparing a successor, as evidenced by fresh leaks and rumours.
Here's What We Know
According to Chinese media, display manufacturers are currently competing to supply panels for the 4th generation iPhone SE. Among them is Chinese company Tianma, which is aiming to get an order from Apple.
But Tianma is likely to be a secondary supplier, with BOE taking over most of the orders.
According to the report, Apple's panel procurement officials have visited several major OLED panel factories in China in the first half of 2023 in preparation for the iPhone SE.
Previously, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that the updated iPhone SE will get a 6.1-inch OLED display with a similar design to the iPhone 14, as well as Apple's 5G modem. But even next year the smartphone doesn't seem to be coming out - it's not expected to premiere until 2025 at the earliest.
