Xiaomi has categorised Telegram as a dangerous, rogue app and banned it from being installed on smartphones, but only in China for now

Owners of Xiaomi smartphones with MIUI firmware can no longer install the Telegram app. So far, the restrictions apply only in China.

Here's What We Know

Last year, the Chinese company announced the MIUI 13 software, which introduced a malicious app detection feature. After that, there was a lot of criticism against Xiaomi, as the firmware began to block some programmes.

Now MIUI classifies the Telegram messenger as a dangerous app. When you try to install it, the system gives a message that the app has not passed Xiaomi's security check and is fraudulent.

The problem will be faced by customers who order Xiaomi smartphones directly from China. Probably, there will be no such restrictions in the global version of MIUI.
