AI server makers compete for contracts with Apple ahead of iOS 18 release

According to the latest data from Taiwanese research firm TrendForce, AI server makers are entering the market with great ambitions to win orders from Apple ahead of the long-awaited unveiling of new AI features scheduled for later this year.

Here's What We Know

Server maker Supermicro is actively expanding its efforts to win orders from Apple for AI servers. They plan to double their shipments this year, thanks to orders from their customers such as CoreWeave and Tesla.

An Apple analyst previously said that the company will spend more than $4.75 billion on servers to support its AI technology in 2024. According to his forecasts, Apple may purchase up to 20,000 servers this year.

At the WWDC conference, Apple is expected to announce a number of new AI features as part of the preview of iOS 18 and other software updates. At a meeting with shareholders yesterday, Apple CEO Tim Cook stressed that the company plans to break new ground in the field of generative artificial intelligence in 2024.
