Meta starts testing Threads API with third-party developers
Meta is releasing a new application programming interface (API) called the Threads API, which will allow you to integrate popular apps like Hootsuite and Sprinklr with Threads to publish messages directly. This feature will be available to the general public in June this year.
Here's What's New About It
According to a Meta engineer, the API is currently in beta. The first group of companies testing this beta version includes social media management platforms such as Sprinklr, Hootsuite, Social News Desk, and Sprout Social, as well as other partners such as Techmeme and Grabyo.
The API will initially allow you to publish content to Threads from these services, but in the future it may include response moderation and analytics features.
The availability of the API could help Threads grow as an alternative for users. Threads already has 130 million readers, and the introduction of the API could lead to even more brand interest.
It is not yet known how the new API could affect Threads' interaction with other platforms such as Mastodon. However, the potential impact could be significant as the API opens up new opportunities for integration and collaboration with other services.
