iOS 18 could get universal accessibility features, including voice shortcuts
Apple is actively working on new accessibility features for its iOS 18 (codenamed Crystal) and macOS 15 (codenamed Glow) operating systems. This has come to light thanks to information from industry sources.
Here's What We Know
One of the key new features will be the "Adaptive Voice Labels" feature. It will allow users to assign unique phrases to enable or disable certain accessibility features. So, users will be able to create their own phrase and select the accessibility setting they want to toggle by saying that phrase.
Apple is also focusing on improving the Live Speech feature. It will add a new "Categories" section that will allow users to organise phrases into their own categories.
Apple also plans to expand support for customising text size in apps. This feature already exists and can be found in the Display section of the Accessibility settings. It allows users to choose the font size for individual apps.
It's worth noting that all of these features are still under development and it's not a guarantee that we'll see them anytime soon. Apple is known for its commitment to quality and the company can cancel any project that doesn't meet their standards.
More details on the new accessibility features are expected to be revealed in the coming months in preparation for the WWDC 2024 developer conference.
