Xiaomi has started testing four prototypes of Xiaomi MS11 electric cars
Four prototypes of Xiaomi MS11 electric car were spotted on the streets of Xinjiang at once. In addition, the autonomous region at the same time visited the leaders of the Chinese company.
Here's What We Know
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun and Vice President Lu Weibing visited Xinjiang at the time when the company here tested prototypes of the electric car. Officially, the visit of the top managers is related to testing the consumer qualities of the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3, which at that time had not yet been announced.
All the cars were covered with masking film. According to media reports, the Xiaomi MS11 was spotted both with and without LiDAR. It is likely that the commercial version of the car will be available with and without LiDAR depending on the configuration.
This is a typical practice for Chinese companies. Automakers from the Middle Kingdom use LiDAR as part of the active driver assistance system. However, cheaper electric car packages lack this option.
Xiaomi announced work on the car back in March 2021. If everything goes according to plan, the production of electric cars will start in the first quarter of 2024. This will be the last project for the company's current CEO.
