Xiaomi is not going to release its SU7 electric car outside of China
Late last year, Xiaomi officially unveiled its first SU7 electric car. And the other day (28 March) it finally went on sale.
Here's What We Know
Test drives began on Friday at 59 shops in 29 cities across China. In other countries, the electric car is not officially presented. And company representatives said that Xiaomi has no plans to release the SU7 outside of China. At least for now.
The SU7 comes in three versions: Standard, Pro and Max. The first two are rear-wheel drive, while the top version is all-wheel drive, more powerful and has two motors. The cost of the car starts at $29,9 thousand. Again, the rates are relevant only for China.
The electric car is already popular in the home market. In the first 4 minutes, 10 thousand pre-orders with advance payment were made. After 7 minutes, this number doubled, and in 27 minutes the company collected 50 thousand pre-orders. Within 24 hours of launch, the number of orders totalled 88,898.
According to the company, mass production of the SU7 has already begun, but not at full capacity, and deliveries to customers will begin by the end of April.
