The US Navy has decommissioned the Ticonderoga-class missile cruiser USS Mobile Bay, which carried Tomahawk, Harpoon, SeaSparrow and Standard missiles
The 11th missile cruiser of the Ticonderoga class is being retired. USS Mobile Bay (CG 53) has been decommissioned by the U.S. Navy.

The service held a ceremony to retire the missile ship from the fleet on 10 August 2023. The event took place at Naval Base San Diego, California, which is the Pacific Fleet's primary port.
USS Mobile Bay (CG 53) was commissioned in late February 1987. The ship was built by Ingalls Shipbuilding of the United States. During its service, it participated in two wars in Iraq.
The missile cruiser is now transitioning to the status of a logistics support ship. To do so, USS Mobile Bay (CG 53) will go to a storage base in Washington State, but first it will lose its armament.
The missile cruiser is equipped with two Mk 41 vertical launch systems. They hold a total of 122 SM-2MR Block IIIB, SM-2ER Block IV, SM-3, Evolved SeaSparrow, SM-6, RUM-139A VL-ASROC and Tomahawk missiles.
USS Mobile Bay (CG 53) is a carrier of RGM-84 Harpoon anti-ship missiles. The missile cruiser also carries Mk 32 torpedoes, Mk 38 machine guns and the Phalanx CIWS Block 1B system. Additionally, a pair of SH-60B or MH-60R helicopters can be positioned on the deck.
