Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding has launched the first Type 054B class guided-missile electric-powered frigate for the Chinese Navy
The Chinese Navy is preparing to receive its first Type 054B-class guided missile frigate. It was launched in Shanghai over the weekend.
Here's What We Know
The warship is being built for the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy by Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding. The guided-missile frigate is 147 metres long, 18.5 metres wide and has a displacement of 6,000 tonnes.
The Chinese warship is characterised by an all-electric propulsion system. The frigate is equipped with active phased array radar, which enhances situational awareness.
The Type 054B class ship is equipped with a vertical launch system with 32 cells for HQ-16 long-range anti-aircraft missiles. The frigate will receive Yu-8 torpedoes, Eagle Strike 83 anti-ship missile launchers, HQ-10 short-range surface-to-air missile system and 100mm cannon.
