The return of E3? The head of ESA said that in 2024 the show will take place, but not in Los Angeles, and a "complete reimagining of E3" is planned for 2025
E3 has been the gaming industry's premier event for many years and all of the world's top developers have been keen to attend.
Since 2019, the annual show has only been held once - in 2021 and in an abbreviated online format.
In 2023, the event was planned to be held, as always, in the Los Angeles Convention Center, but there were so few people willing to participate that the organisers decided to cancel it.
Many thought that E3 was over, but the head of the ESA organisation Stanley Pierre-Louis made an unexpected announcement.
Here's What We Know
ESA is ending its partnership with ReedPop, the organisation responsible for the exhibition. Therefore, if the E3 exhibition will be held in 2024, it will not be held in the Los Angeles Convention Centre.
In addition, the ESA executive said that his team is working on a major reimagining of E3, and 2025 will be the year of the once-popular show's triumphant return.
While the reach of E3 remains unrivalled in our industry, we continue to explore how we can evolve it to best serve the video games industry and are evaluating every aspect of the event, from format to location. We are committed to our role as an organiser and look forward to sharing news about E3 in the coming months.
