The upcoming price increase for Game Pass is inevitable, says Xbox CEO Phil Spencer
Earlier this year, Microsoft announced its intention to increase prices for Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate in all markets except the US, Japan, Chile, Brazil, and Colombia, but it seems that this is not the only price increase the company is going to make in the near future.
Here's What We Know
The head of Xbox Phil Spencer told about this in an interview with the Japanese publishing house Game Watch. He expressed the opinion that further price increases for Game Pass in the future are almost inevitable, but the executive noted that Microsoft focuses on ensuring the proper level of value of its service regardless of the price:
"Although the main premise is to provide more value, the price, I think, it is inevitable that it will rise in the future. We recently raised our prices once, but the decision was made after careful consideration. We believe it is important to provide services that are recognized as being of sufficient value even if prices are increased."
It is understood that Microsoft has already had some success with special offers that offer lower prices to attract new subscribers to Game Pass, and it is expected that the company will continue to work in this direction, regardless of an overall increase in the base prices of the service.
