Adventure RPG Octopath Traveler disappeared from Nintendo eShop
The popular adventure role-playing game Octopath Traveler from Square Enix and Acquire has been removed from the Nintendo eShop - the game is no longer available for purchase on Switch due to a change in publishing rights. Previously, the game was published by Nintendo, and in December, the rights to it were transferred to Square Enix. Pre-purchased codes from third-party sellers are still valid.
Here's What We Know
This change in publishing rights raises speculation about the potential release of the game on other platforms, including PlayStation, where it is currently unavailable, despite the fact that the sequel was released on Sony's platform.
Acquire, the Tokyo-based studio behind this hit RPG, has also created the Tenchu, Way of the Samurai and Abiba series. The studio, founded in 1994 with 148 employees, became a subsidiary of Kadokawa to expand its game intellectual property creation capabilities and strengthen its overall console game lineup.
