A few new details about the Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII remake
Square Enix recently announced a remastered version of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII for the PlayStation Portable. IN Twitter the company revealed a few details about what changes are in store for the remake.
Crisis Core - Final Fantasy VII - Reunion awaits you:
- Improved camera and character movement.
- Optimized interface.
- A new menu-based combat system.
- New arrangements of background music by Takehar Ishimoto, the composer of the original version.
- Full voiceover, including in scenes where previously there was only text.
Previously, Square Enix also mentioned that in Reunion, all 3D models - from characters to environments - have been "completely refreshed".
Probably, some fans will be interested in a new combat system. In the original Crisis Core, the battles were strange: the fan wiki describes the principle of combat as "a constant stream of fast moves, thanks to which the illusion of real-time action is formed." In addition, the Digital Mind Wave mechanic worked in the battle - roughly speaking, a one-armed bandit, where slots are constantly spinning and various bonuses fall out, from temporary power-ups to level-ups.
Among fans of the series, there is an opinion that the battle system of Crisis Core (coupled with other unpleasant features such as random encounters with opponents) turned out so-so. Details about the new system have not been revealed, but screenshots of the remake show that the Digital Mind Wave is still in use.
Crisis Core - Final Fantasy VII - Reunion is out this winter on PC (Steam), PlayStation, Xbox and Switch.
